These sweeties smell like turkish delight...
And are as thorny as the devil!
Such a shame that they only flower once
and only for around 2 weeks.
Last year the flowers shrivelled
without opening. Rescued from old sites in central Victoria.

The pale pink rose is an unidentified possible hybrid of china-gallica or china-damask that used to grow in several graveyards here in the Goldfields of Victoria The darker red is most probably Paul Ricault ...and unlike the pale one, it sometimes blooms in Autumn in a year of good rain THe perfume of each is a rich "olde-worlde" deliciousness...Turkish Delight? yes, there's rosewater in that !
